Use AI help to build understanding

Show the question and where you got stuck

Include the question or topic, any relevant material, and what you have tried. If you are following a course, include its instructions. This makes it easier to focus on the part that needs explaining.

Be specific about the uncertainty. You might understand the calculation but not why a formula applies, or recognize the terms but not how they connect. Those are different questions and need different explanations.

Ask for the amount of help you need

Start with a hint when you want to keep working independently. Ask for a single step when that is the part blocking you. Request a complete explanation when you need to see how the reasoning fits together.

Share your background, your goal, and any method your course expects. If an explanation uses unfamiliar ideas, ask to revisit those first rather than continuing with a gap in understanding.

• Ask why a step is valid.
• Request simpler language for an unfamiliar term.
• Ask how the idea connects to something you already know.
• Compare two approaches when both seem possible.

Use a visual when it explains a relationship

A graph can show how quantities change. A labeled diagram can connect structure to function. A sequence can make the stages of a process easier to follow.

Use the visual to answer a question about the idea. Explain what a label, line, region, or change represents. A picture becomes useful learning material when you can connect it to the reasoning.

Check that you can use the idea

Explain the method in your own words, then try a related question without looking at the solution. Notice which parts you can justify and which still feel like a memorized instruction.

AI explanations can be wrong. Check important claims, assumptions, calculations, and examples against reliable reference material. For assessed school or course work, follow the rules on outside help and use the support to develop your own understanding.
