Start from the question and what is known
Identify what changed, what was measured, and what needs explaining. A written problem may provide values and assumptions; an observation may leave several explanations possible. Keep those two kinds of information distinct before choosing a model or calculation.
Give the model a clear meaning
An equation describes a relationship. A force diagram represents an object and the forces acting on it. A particle model or biological diagram highlights selected structures and interactions. Explain which parts of the model matter to the question and which details it leaves out.
Connect the disciplines without blurring them
Physics studies relationships such as forces, motion, and energy. Chemistry connects substances, particles, reactions, and quantities. Biology examines living structures, processes, and systems. A question may cross those boundaries, but each part still needs the vocabulary and evidence appropriate to it.
Check what the evidence supports
Keep conditions, units, and the scope of a result visible. A useful diagram can suggest an explanation without proving every claim about it. Check calculations, compare the explanation with the observations, and identify what additional information would be needed for a broader conclusion.

Suppose the same toy car travels different distances across two surfaces. The distances are observations. Friction may form part of an explanation, but the comparison also depends on how the car was released and what else changed. A scientific explanation connects the evidence to a model and makes those conditions visible.
