The useful part of writing starts before the first sentence.
A customer email, project brief, and help article need different things from a reader. Give AI Chat the audience, purpose, facts, and desired next step. Then work on the draft in pieces: decide what belongs, make the explanation clear, and check what it says before sharing it.
Get the structure in place
Turn rough notes into an outline or first draft. Ask what is missing, what repeats, and which point the reader needs first.
Revise with a specific reason
Shorten an introduction, explain an unfamiliar term, compare two approaches, or adjust the tone for a different audience. Keep the conversation close to the actual text.
Keep recurring work consistent
Use relevant Library material and reusable Skills for product facts, terminology, structure, and writing instructions. Review the result against those sources.
From a rough brief to a reviewed draft.
Bring the audience and the facts
Describe who will read the piece and what they need to understand or do. Include the brief, useful notes, and any source material the draft should follow.
Build, question, and revise
Choose an outline, work through a section, and ask for focused changes. Compare alternatives instead of accepting a first version that does not fit.
Check it before it leaves the conversation
Verify names, figures, claims, links, and tone. Make the final edits, then use the finished text in your normal publishing or communication process.
Useful writing for the work in front of you.
Start with the reader and what they need from the writing: an answer, a decision, an explanation, or a useful next step.
Customer emails and explanations
Draft a clear response from the customer’s question and the facts you can confirm. Explain the decision, set expectations, and make the next step easy to find.
Project briefs and proposals
Organize goals, requirements, open questions, and constraints. Help a client understand the proposal and give collaborators a clear account of what has been agreed.
Product pages and help articles
Explain what a feature does, who it helps, and how to use it. Work from real product information and check every promise before publishing.
Internal updates and working documents
Turn supplied notes into a summary, decision record, or instructions for the next person. Keep responsibilities and unresolved questions explicit.
Bring more context. Ask for a better revision.
AI Chat supports the conversation around a draft, while shared workspace tools help you provide the material and instructions it needs.
- Files for the current task
- Attach the brief or reference material to the message. Ask about a specific section, compare passages, or use the material to shape an outline.
- Library knowledge you can reuse
- Keep useful documents, website content, text snippets, and Q&A in the Library. Select relevant ready items for work that returns to the same facts.
- Skills for familiar formats
- Reuse workspace-authored instructions for a particular kind of draft, including structure, terminology, and the checks expected before it is shared.
- An editable spoken starting point
- In browsers that support dictation, speak rough notes into the chat prompt. Review the recognized text before sending it, then refine the draft in conversation.
Questions about Writing & content
Which Help.ai product should I use for writing?
AI Chat is the starting point for drafting, revising, and discussing written work. AI Agents fit repeatable assistance with a defined purpose, instructions, knowledge, and selected tools.
Can it write in my voice or our team’s style?
Provide examples, terminology, audience guidance, and specific writing instructions. Library items and Skills can make those references reusable. Review the draft for the details that make your voice recognizable.
Does it publish or send the finished text automatically?
Drafting in AI Chat does not itself publish a page or send a customer message. Any action through another service depends on a configured connection, an available tool, and the permissions for that action.
Will a fluent draft always be factually correct?
No. Check factual statements against the source material, particularly figures, product promises, quotations, and links. Ask the chat to make uncertain points explicit, then verify them before publishing.
Can I use a different model for a difficult draft?
AI Chat offers the models enabled for your workspace, with reasoning choices where the selected model supports them. Available models and tools depend on your workspace configuration.
