A document, conversation, and review marker connected together, representing research that keeps source material close to the explanation.
  • Questions grounded in supplied material
  • Reusable workspace knowledge
  • Source references when returned

Finding a document is only the first step.

You might be comparing options for yourself, preparing a recommendation for a client, or finding the answer to a customer’s question. Keep the relevant documents close to the conversation. Compare what they establish, explain the differences, and make unanswered questions visible.

Ask the question behind the search

Focus on a decision: what changed, how two options differ, or which requirement a document explains. Use follow-up questions to inspect the reasoning.

Keep useful knowledge within reach

Reuse ready Library items across chats and agents. Bring product information, policies, reference documents, and Q&A into the tasks that depend on them.

Make the next check clear

Turn a broad pile of reading into findings, differences, and questions to verify. Inspect source references when the response includes them, and return to the original material for important details.

From a question to a reviewable answer.

  1. Define the question and choose the material

State what you need to decide or understand. Attach relevant files or select ready Library items, and identify the time period or version that matters.

  2. Compare and explain

Ask for a summary, a comparison, or an explanation of a difficult passage. Keep assumptions and missing information visible as you work through the answer.

  3. Return to the evidence

Check the original sources, dates, calculations, and quotations. Use the reviewed findings to prepare a brief, draft a response, or decide which question to investigate next.

Research that supports an actual decision.

Bring a clear question and the source material relevant to answering it.

Product and policy questions

Find the relevant information in your own documentation and ask for a clear explanation. Check that the source is current before using it in a customer response.

Supplier and proposal comparisons

Compare supplied proposals against the same requirements. List differences, exclusions, and unclear terms to support your own choice, a team decision, or a recommendation to a client.

Project and meeting preparation

Work through supplied notes, previous decisions, and open issues. Build a brief that distinguishes what has been agreed from what still needs attention.

Research for a draft or recommendation

Collect the points a piece of writing needs to support. Organize the evidence before asking for a polished draft, and keep unsupported claims out of the final text.

A shared Library for different kinds of work.

Use selected Library material in AI Chat for your own questions. Give an agent the appropriate references for recurring team questions or direct customer help through a configured deployment.

Files and documents
Work with reusable uploaded material or attach files to a specific message. Readiness and supported processing determine which Library items can be selected.
Website content
Add website content to the Library for reuse. Treat the processed material as a source with its own collection date, rather than assuming every answer is reading the live website.
Text snippets and Q&A
Store a concise explanation, known answer, or reference text when an entire document is unnecessary. Keep it specific enough to help with a recurring question.
Sources you can inspect
When a response includes URL or document references, the Sources action opens them for review. A citation is a starting point for checking the claim, not a guarantee that the conclusion is correct.

Questions about Knowledge & research

Is Library a separate Help.ai product?

Library is the shared workspace module for reusable knowledge. AI Chat and AI Agents use it alongside their other capabilities, so you can reuse the same material without creating a separate knowledge product.

Does every research question search the web?

Research can begin with attached files and selected Library content. Live web search depends on the tools enabled and configured for your workspace. Check returned sources and their dates when freshness matters.

Does every answer include citations?

No. The Sources action appears when URL or document references are returned with the response. If a claim matters to your decision, inspect the original material even when the answer includes a source.

Can I compare several documents?

You can bring relevant material into the conversation through attachments and Library selection, then ask for a comparison against clear criteria. Processing support, file limits, and the available model affect what can be used in a particular task.

What happens when the sources disagree?

Ask for the difference to be stated explicitly, including the source, date, and assumptions behind each position. Use the comparison to guide further checking; a smooth summary should not hide a real disagreement.

Bring a question worth answering.
